To capture that surface I took 105 images and processed them in Photoscan to get 25mln poly model.
Camera was set to: focal length 24mm, aperture f/16 - after shooting I realized aperture was set to high (should be about 8-10) and I risked getting blurred images due to strong wind. Fortunately high amount of ambient light kept shutter speed fast enough.
Because cobblestone surface is quite predictable and follows it's own logic, tiling it is very challenging and not as simple as for surfaces without any repetitive pattern like grass or sand.
To spare myself some work on tiling stage, I positioned lowpoly model in Zbrush over highpoly in a way where seams were located between stones in result getting horizontal seam super easy to tile, unfortunately it didn't work that way for both U and V at the same time. Another seam had to be fixed by re-arranging stone placement stone by stone with 'Crop Tool' in Substance Painter.
Anyway, thanks to Painter tiling was pretty fast and fun :).
